Education through the eyes of a Skin Therapist

I had recently taken an exciting Dermalogica product knowledge class in NYC. It was a 2 day course: ‘ Dermalogica Live Product Knowledge in the Treatment Room’ and ‘Dermalogica Retail’. I found it to be so helpful in my practice as an Esthetician. They went over each product’s ingredients and benefits as well as give great tips on how to customize each service to your clients’ needs. Between the retail products and the professional products they each have something special to offer, whether it be for a specific skin condition or a skin type. It may seem overwhelming to learn them all in just 2 days but the way the teacher explained the ingredients and how to use each one makes it so simple to remember. I look forward to going back and learning more about their Medibac, Anti-Aging, and Ultra Calming lines. Dermalogica is giving me the tools to Provide Outstanding Client Service…Always- and an education that I can share with all of the clients that visit with me. –K Bartus-Russo

An Attitude Of Gratitude

On Friday, January 21st, we received a phone call from the Haven Hospice asking if we had a Nail Tehnician available to perform services on two patients, in JFK Hospital, who were in the final phase of their lives . I called one of our employees, Rossio , who was not scheduled to come in until the evening to ask if she would go to the hospital to perform the services. She was thrilled to do so. Rossio said that each patient had family members with them and they were so grateful to her for offering her time on a busy Friday to perform the wishes of their loved ones. ” I am the one who is grateful though,” Rossio told me during our conversation. “To have the opportunity to give someone a caring touch in their final days and to have their family witness human compassion from a stranger made my heart swell!” Rossio told me that ‘this is what it is all about-touching the lives of others” She was honored to have met two beautiful woman and fulfill their wishes. Rossio’s experience is one of many that our spa team encounters on a daily basis. I am honored and grateful to work with a Spa Team who continually strive to ‘do what it takes’ to care for our clients and our community. Whether it is performing Oncology Massages to clients with cancer to give them a nurturing touch, helping a young woman gain self confidence by giving her beautiful skin, or just holding the hand of a client during a nail service to show that we care, our Spa Team will give of themselves to ensure that each client achieves a better sense of well-being.

Two of our Massage Therapists at Vito Mazza’s recently took a class on Craniosacral Therapy. THis is an exciting therapy with plenty of benefits.
Craniosacral therapy is an alternative therapy used by massage therapists. A craniosacral therapy session involves the therapist placing their hands on the patient, which allows them to tune into what they call the craniosacral rhythm. The practitioner claims to gently work with the spine, cranial sutures, and fascia. In this way, the restrictions of nerve passages are said to be eased, the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spinal cord is said to be optimized, and misaligned bones are believed to be restored to their proper position. Craniosacral therapists use the therapy to treat mental stress, neck and back pain, migraines, TMJ syndrome, and for chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia. Along with traditional Massage Therapy, craniosacral therapy helps relax the body better to allow for a more productive session.
